After harvesting, the insects are cleaned, killed in an acceptable manner and then stabilized. For hygienic reasons, the killing of the insects is carried out in a separate room, for this the following techniques are used: heating by steaming or boiling, freezing and grinding. In a next step, the insects can be dried.
We have three techniques for this: oven drying, freeze drying and radio-frequency drying. The latter technique uses radio waves, whereby the entire product is heated directly and homogeneously.
